Unproductive

It feels like I haven't finished anything for ages.  I have been working on UFOs but not achieving much in the way of complete finishes - although I have finished some tops....

These were the efforts from an evening at Lutterworth Piecemakers - everybody was making stuff to be tombola prizes for the exhibition later in the year.   I supplied the fabric and Denise brought her sewing machine and along with the help of Sue, we made 25 tissue pack covers between us.  The theme for the tombola is "things to put things in"...

A lot of people on the night were making these quilted pouches:

I brought a pattern home and have made these two and was very pleased with how the zips came out!  One of them is for a left handed person (obviously) but overall, very pleased!!

Went to my first workshop in an absolute age on Thursday.  Gail Lawther at Lutterworth Piecemakers.  I finished my project on the day - all apart from the binding - and then had to get my (workshop) sewing machine back out today as I had missed a bit when quilting the background.   An Oyster Catcher.   I chose this pattern (from the four available) as I am sure Mark and me have seen these at Bridlington.

Linus disappearing 9 patch

We had a Linus evening at Lutterworth and made disappearing 9 patch quilts in groups.  I offered to quilt the finished top.

3 at once

The top one is a quilt for Project Linus.  I "volunteered" to make up a quilt from kit form.  It is a disappearing 9 patch made from 5" squares.

The middle quilt is all  Aldi Fat Quarters - Harry Potter themed featuring lots of chocolate frogs - which is why I liked it.

The bottom one is the last of my challenge projects for Piecemakers this year - it was to use purple fabric.  Came along just at the right time as I wanted a plain colour but not black.  A jelly roll quilt to make the squares with the purple and white on white fabric added.

Zips

Has anybody, ever, said they enjoyed putting a zip in?!  This was a sewing evening at Lutterworth Piecemakers last night - a vinyl bag with a zip in the top.  Mine is finished - enough said.....

I am going to use it to put sewing bits in to keep with my sewing machine as I had nothing with me last night - apart from my machine - but fortunately there was a seam ripper in the little tool box...

New Technique

Lutterworth Piecemakers are doing a challenge this year.  We all have a Bingo card and have to tick off 6 "items" to get a prize at the November meeting.

I have ticked off two as I made a bag (nothing spectacular) and my "new technique" to tick off was this doll and her clothes.  The pattern calls her Lizzie but she might get called something else - she certainly did when I was making her.....

Mug rugs

Debbie gave me a bag of squares. At first glance they looked like 1.5" squares, but they weren't! I have made 6 mug rugs with them as debbie's contribution to the Lutterworth Piecemaker's tombola prizes for the exhibition next weekend.

and another finish

I need to take more time off work.....
I am going to give this one as a tombola prize for the exhibition at Lutterworth Piecemakers in October.

Oldest UFO?

Possibly (but not definitely) my oldest UFO. This was a row by row sampler quilt at Lutterworth Piecemakers. At least six years ago I reckon..... I have quilted it this year and just finished the binding.

Squeezing in one last finish (spot the frog)

This was a workshop with Mary Mayne at Lutterworth Piecemakers absolutely ages ago. I quilted it earlier in the year but only put the binding on yesterday while sobbing through Toy Story 3. Mark had left the room before the sad bit, he said he was checking on an ebay auction that was about to finish...... did he just not want to watch me blub or did he not want to blub himself? I think the latter..... Good job I didn't watch Dumbo.....

Sizzling Strips

Sizzling Strips - in my two favourite colours. Finished it last night but it was a Lutterworth workshop from earlier in the year (I think it was this year anyway)..... I made the binding from left over orange strips so was very pleased with myself - it came out OK!
