Mark has had his birthday present already - I sewed the binding down sitting on the sofa opposite him while we were watching telly - he didn't notice.

And I have one more draught excluder to finish stuffing as I have run out of scraps - mission accomplished....

Just a simple pattern but I was pleased with how the quilting came out.

Another finish, which I am tempted to make again and would do a bit different.  And a new goldfish!!!  He is a yellow one and slightly larger then the other 3 (we are still in lockdown - you can't buy a new jumper but can buy a goldfish...).  We also have 2 snails in the pond which came through the post from Devon.

We are at week two of a second lockdown (but this one is only for four weeks).  I am trying to finish UFOs for the four weeks and not start anything new......  This was a mystery pattern last year (I think) with the idea that the finished quilt went to a charity.  Nothing is going anywhere at the moment.  I have bought storage bags to keep all the finished ones in - and away from dog hair.  Not keen on the colours I used in this quilt - Mark didn't like them either.  Love the backing fabric though - alligators in party hats.

 Another fugly finish.

I was asked to make a table runner for a work colleague.  Her sister hates brussels sprouts so every year she gives her something brussels themed for Christmas....

Finally finished

Gill at work had this fabric from Thailand and rather than storing it in a cupboard, she asked me to make bags with it.  It has taken me ages to get them finished - I struggled with getting going on them but they were an easy finish once I got motivated.  Lovely elephants.

oldest ufo?

I pieced this years ago - just after finishing C&G (I think).  Have now quilted it.  Very wavy borders.....  I hope I am better at piecing now!

Hang it the right way up

I wanted another notice board for my sewing room and when I saw this free pattern from Elizabeth Hartmann, I knew that was the one.  The blue is quilted with a fish panto.

EPP duck

Not sure if this worked very well - some of the yellow was too pale. I would do it a bit differently if I did it again. All EPP hexagons. I used a doodle from the class I have recently taken for the duck.

Still doodling

A chicken doorstop (from a panel) stuffed with fabric scraps as I haven't been able to take any to be recycled and I am starting to slowly drown and a rug that was lots of practice doodles from the class. The class was great and when it finshed all the participants were given access to the two previous years' classes - a total of 80 doodles for £15.00. I am still working my way through them.

Doodle

I am taking an online doodle class - a doodle a day for the whole of June. This was the "sew-up" for the end of week two - and my teacher's comments!!!

Another 11 - no more!!

I've made enough to donate £100 to Pawprints when they are all sold.

sent in secret

Sent this through the internal post at work to a colleague - it was supposed to be in secret but she instantly knew it was from me!

Stay at Home sampler

This was a free block a day by Temecula Quilt Co for the month of April. The blocks finish at 3". I think I missed a couple somewhere....... But I have even put a hanging sleeve AND a label on it.... It only took a single FQ for the backing. The hanging sleeve is probably the most hideous fabric ever which I had to buy when I saw it.....to be featured in fugly quilts all year....

Fugly finish

I decided at the beginning of this year I would make some fugly quilts - I wanted to use up some fugly fabric (I have plenty) and also to make quilts that would be used and abused. I've made 3 tops so far using mostly 2 1/2" squares and loaded an ugly 5 yard piece of backing fabric on Ness and had some fun. This is the first one I have finished so far.

Sign of the times

After a whole afternoon of trial and error I found a mask pattern which works for me. I have got to make sure these survive the wash and then I can make a few more. It is horrible wearing a face mask but I think we will have to wear them for shopping etc at some point.

Progress

I am back to work on Monday so didn't get many stars done.
I have, however made a Bento bag (not sure I would make another) and a bit bag which I was very pleased with!

one week in....

Last Wednesday I was sent home from work due to the Coronavirus - I could be off for 12 weeks or then again I could get a phone call to go back any day. I have decided to have a Positive Mental Attitude and look forward to plenty of sewing time. Just before all this kicked off Mark and me went shopping for a day at Rushden Lakes. They have a magazine shop and I bought a copy of Quiltmania as there was a pattern that caught my eye - I never buy magazines. Anyway, the pattern calls for something like 2800 HST at a size of 1.5". This is my mission!! I am going to do a "sheet" of blocks a day. I have done all the HSTs in one colour way and am part way through the second phase.

Two tops, two bags

Two finished tops that are going to Ani to quilt for project linus - both made from Aldi Kevin the Carrot fat quarters and because I bought my body weight in Kevin Carrot fat quarters, the two bags are very simple drawstring bags made using the ribbon that is round the 5 pack of FQs. Mark has given me a very good idea for another bag though.... The FQs were in the sale after Christmas at Aldi online and they were selling them at 99p for a pack of ten.... Spend £20 and free postage as well so that was 21 packs at a time for the free post.

New toys!

A bag cutting die and poppers and the pliers to attach them with - beats sewing on buttons and they open and close with a satisfying click!

2019 count

Because I hadn't done it yet: Baskets 3, Bags 3, Quilts 10, Design walls 2, Bath mat 1, Table runner 1, Coasters 4, Hair scrunchie 1, Mouse 1. Still more quilts than anything else and the table runner and two design walls could also be considered quilts - despite what other people might say.... I am surprised I have done so much considering we moved house and it felt like we spent forever decorating.

Another basket

this one is bigger...
