A Thing

I haven't done my count yet but I don't think I have many finishes for this year..... This was a start and finish today though - a thread catcher thing.... uses 2 1/2" squares and I have lots of those....

Rocheberie challenge

At the September meeting we were given two half meters of fabric and wadding and instructed to make a quilt!

Jan Hassard - 3 more UFOs....

Bridlington again. Three Jan Hassard classes:
This was Transversions and I made just over a quarter - but this bit still needs sewing together. The next class was Falling Colours and I did 4 blocks - undecided how much larger I want to go:
The next day was scrappy log cabin - should have been a breeze as I have done log cabin before but could I get the blocks right? No! Made 14 blocks of which about 4 are correct. I might just start again and slice and dice these blocks into something else.....

Mug rugs

Debbie gave me a bag of squares. At first glance they looked like 1.5" squares, but they weren't! I have made 6 mug rugs with them as debbie's contribution to the Lutterworth Piecemaker's tombola prizes for the exhibition next weekend.

Bear/cat?

When I asked Mark he thought it was a cat - I was aiming for a bear but I can live with a cat...

bags

I made a bag for Jenny:
Less successfully, this was a mini workshop at Lutterworth Piecemakers. It is a bag with a clear vinyl window in the front. I didn't finish mine on the night as I had cut my fabric the wrong sizes but I tackled it later - after getting help from Liz. There was supposed to be a handle on it but I managed to sew that to the inside - easily remedied, I just chopped it off.

A top for Linus

The call has gone out - Ani needs about 70 tops for her next marathon Linus quilting challenge. These blocks are from my current leader and ender project - I am aiming for king size and need 210 blocks - I had 7 left to make but I've just nicked 36 for this top!

and another finish

I need to take more time off work.....
I am going to give this one as a tombola prize for the exhibition at Lutterworth Piecemakers in October.

Two finishes

I have had a week off work following the Festival of Quilts and I have two finishes! They both have been quilted for a while but I have done the binding.
This MUST be about my oldest UFO. It was a workshop at a shop that closed down years ago - it was my first attempt at foundation piecing and is on a printed background. My foundation piecing skills haven't really improved since this first effort. It will probably end up in the dog's basket.
This was a Bonnie Hunter mystery - I think it was called Easy Street. Huge, in typical B Hunter style - Mark is standing on our garden bench. This is being gifted to a lady in Wales who helped mum out when she broke her arm back in January.

Off to pastures new....

Another dog blanket

Just fleece and flannel - but the dogs like them.

Animal Krackers for Linus

Animals everywhere. I did completely decapitate a fish in one of the blocks - so that one was abandoned....

UFO finish

This is a Bonnie Hunter pattern "Florabunda". I had it on my design wall until it got dusty, then it was a top for ages and I have finally quilted it and done the binding.

Spring clean chicken

This is a "before" shot in case it doesn't survive the washing machine. I made this years ago - it has been at work on top of the fridge but I am about to move office (for the 8th time) and it is a bit grubby to say the least so I have brought it home for a spring clean.

Scarlett, quilt and bag

Scarlett with her stitches - which she has now had removed - and she is doing really well. Finally finished my quilt from this year's New Year's Day mystery - not been washed yet but I want a sunny day for that (not holding my breath).
and last but not least, Sheila, who I have shared an office with on and off at work for about 20 years, is retiring tomorrow. I found this fabric in January which is perfect as it features a westie and a lab on the brown fabric and westies on the green fabric and Sheila has got - yes, a westie and a lab. Bought the fabric in Jan, finished the bag today and Sheila finishes work tomorrow.... Perfect timing....

Wounded Scarlett

Poor babe Scarlett has had to have a lump removed by the vet. It was on her shoulder so wrapping it up to keep it clean was difficult. A Primark babygro to the rescue. Not sure she is very impressed with having to wear it. She did get a roast chicken bought for her though - although she had to share it with Penny and Daisy.

Rocheberie BOM challenge

Not a very good photo but this was the Rocheberie BOM challenge from last year - we had 2 blocks at each meeting and then it was viewer's choice for the winners. Just glad to have a finish!

A two person quilt

I pieced it (years ago) and quilted it (more recently but still probably a year or so ago) but Liz did the binding. I am going to give it to Linus.

The Cottage Hotel, Hope Cove, sewing retreat

Have just come back from a week in Devon. Had a fantastic time and managed to complete my quilt top I took with me - whoop whoop. We had storm Doris while we were there. The worst of it was at night and kept most of the hotel awake. The wind made the windows squeek and once awake, that was it - far too windy/noisy to get back to sleep. I had a finish just before leaving for the retreat (the night before). I made a bag for Ani from the fabric scraps she gives me to take to be recycled by the Lutterworth Leukaemia charity shop.

More new fish!

We've got about 15 baby platys in the nursery tank now (yes, we did lose count).

First stuff

First finish of the year - not incredibly exciting - a pinwheel. It was a demo at Rocheberie on Sat - I liked it so I made it.
And, I never would have said I used a lot of yellow but I obviously do as this is the first cone of longarm thread I have finished (nearly) since having NessieJ in 2012....
And, more excitement: we have baby fish! 5 platys. This is our second batch of baby fish - 4 have already grown to adulthood and produced these. The first lot (last year) were a complete surprise and we left them to their own devices in the big tank. This time, we have a small "nursery" tank. I want baby guppys next!

2016 finishes

Have just counted and I didn't do very much in 2016! I finished 7 quilts and made 8 other items (bags). I am always busy though....
